Ikebukuro is a massive commuter hub and economic center in Tokyo, home to a number of giant department stores, a lively otaku subculture, and a number of attractions inside the Sunshine City mall complex. You can go shopping for clothes or cosplay costumes, have a few rounds at a game center and then head to one of the many restaurants and bars with plenty of Ikebukuro food! Discover the best food in Ikebukuro during this urban Ikebukuro Food Tour, where you’ll not only explore the streets but eat delicious Japanese food as you go. During an Ikebukuro Food Tour, between 5 food stops, you’ll wander the streets and discover what makes the lively Ikebukuro area tick. Alive with so many shopping brands, souvenir stores, game centers, restaurants, markets, nightlife, and love hotels, the possibilities are endless in Ikebukuro. You’ll visit a delicious food-themed park, as well as a cat cafe (great for animal lovers, as the cats are allowed to roam freely inside!) Starting from the station, you’ll head to a sushi restaurant to try a number of different types of sushi, including maki rolls or nigiri sushi. Next, you’ll try some delicious yakitori grilled chicken skewers before heading off to explore some local markets and shops. The next stop will be a Japanese-style restaurant specializing in wagyu beef, where you can enjoy grilling your own. After that, you’ll taste some takoyaki, it’s a tasty street food of octopus balls which originated in Osaka. Finally, you’ll finish off the Ikebukuro Food Tour with some Japanese wagashi sweets for dessert before hitting up a game center to experience some wild Japanese arcade games!

One of Tokyo’s major city centers, the vibrant area of Ikebukuro serves as a huge commuter and electronics hub. It’s the second busiest station in Tokyo, just after Shinjuku Station, and is surrounded by hundreds of shops, bars, restaurants, and entertainment venues. While it’s not as famous as Akihabara, Ikebukuro has a strong otaku culture, but one that caters towards female clientele, featuring a number of butler cafes and cosplay shops. The area is also the home a rooftop aquarium and a number of other attractions within Ikebukuro’s Sunshine City, an enormous mall complex.
