Delicious okonomiyaki was born in the Kansai region of Japan but has since spread throughout the country. In no way is this surprising, as okonomiyaki anywhere (and you will find it anywhere) is comforting and hearty every time. It’s known as a traditional, savory Japanese pancake, with Osaka-style okonomiyaki being made from a batter of eggs and cabbage, among other things. It’s fun to make yourself as you can choose what ingredients to put in it, as some people even like to add cheese or mochi rice cakes for texture! So, if you want to eat okonomiyaki in Tokyo, you’ve come to the right place, why not learn how to make it yourself? This cooking class is the perfect chance to learn how to make Osaka-style okonomiyaki in Tokyo! During this Okonomiyaki in Tokyo Cooking Class, you’ll learn about the ingredients and preparation method of this delicious savory Japanese pancake. You’ll mix the batter then grill it on a teppanyaki hot plate until it’s just right. Step up to the challenge and brace yourself for the big pancake flip! You’ll top it off as you like with plenty of traditional toppings to choose from, and eat it with a side of miso soup which you’ll have learned to make from scratch. Experience Location
Meguro is central enough, but not quite in the thick of chaotic city life. Surrounded by a cluster of restaurants and bars of Meguro Dori Street, cherry blossoms line the canal along the Meguro River, a popular spot for hanami season in spring. Follow the river to the west and you’ll end up at the trendy bars and hipster cafes of Nakameguro. The ward stretches as far as Yutenji and Tokyo’s Little Europe in Jiyugaoka. Meguro is home to 500 Buddha statues in Daienji Temple, the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography, and the unusual Meguro Parasitological Museum.
