Experience Details
Tempura is an incredibly popular deep-fried dish in Japan. Typically tempura consists of a variety of vegetables and seafood dipped into a light batter, and then fried to crispy satisfying perfection. Sometimes you can get meat tempura, but ebi (shrimp) tempura is an absolute classic that you simply have to try when visiting Tokyo. Tempura is versatile as a side or a main dish, where for example when it’s served over the top of soba buckwheat noodles the meal is known as tempura soba, while when it’s eaten together in a rice bowl, it’s known as a tendon. Whichever way you have it, it’s crunchy and tasty, especially when different ingredients are used for delicious variation! Learn how to make your own authentic Japanese tempura during this Tempura in Tokyo Cooking Class, where you’ll prepare the ingredients, mix the batter, and fry your tempura pieces perfectly. You’ll also make miso soup from scratch as well as a vegetable side dish to go with it. Finally, sit down to your tempura feast with complimentary tea or coffee and dessert!

Experience Location
Meguro is central enough, but not quite in the thick of chaotic city life. Surrounded by a cluster of restaurants and bars of Meguro Dori Street, cherry blossoms line the canal along the Meguro River, a popular spot for hanami season in spring. Follow the river to the west and you’ll end up at the trendy bars and hipster cafes of Nakameguro. The ward stretches as far as Yutenji and Tokyo’s Little Europe in Jiyugaoka. Meguro is home to 500 Buddha statues in Daienji Temple, the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography, and the unusual Meguro Parasitological Museum.
