Description
Travelers from all over can find some of the highest grades of matcha sourced from Uji, Kyoto. So it is no surprise that there was genius out there who decided that the best use of some of that matcha was to put it into a soft cake, softening the matcha flavor with chocolate chips, making this cake one of the most enjoyable ways to get your cuppa matcha in for the day!

Kimura was founded by the family of Shigenari Kimura, a shogunate vassal of the Toyotomi family, taking advantage of the bountiful rice-growing climate. Since then, the sake brewing industry has flourished alongside the stable rice cultivating traditions.
During the Edo period (1603-1867), thanks to the prosperity brought by the local Innai Ginzan Silver Mine, Kimura Brewery’s business prospered. The establishment of the Ou Line by the East Japan Railway in 1905 allowed the company to begin shipping their nihonshu beyond the borders of Akita prefecture.
